What is a PLC?
Programmable Logic
Controllers (PLCs) are small, versatile, and powerful, stand alone industrial control
systems. Similar to the computer on your desk, PLCs are standard package units, with some
options for inputs and outputs, memory, and CPU power. PLCs can be user programmed to
perform an infinite variety of jobs. Common control applications for PLCs vary from
building alarm systems, robot welders, assembly line processes, and of course elevator
control systems.
At Lardner Elevator we use
PLCs for many applications. Some of these applications may be to replace obsolete
electro-mechanical components on existing control panels such as, counters, timers,
stepping switches, etc..to replacing entire elevator control systems.
